Please note that these classes are not aerobic-type dance-based programs; the ones that you’re used to seeing on television (i.e. Taebo, Kardio-Karate, etc.). Our full-body progressive work-out systems are based on true Kickboxing Skills and time-proven Drills & Exercises found in some of the ancient practices of the Traditional Martial Arts, such as Karate, Kung-Fu and Judo…as well as many classical exercise disciplines, such as Tai-Chi, Yoga and Chi-Gung.
You see, a swimmer needs to have a swimmer’s body; a gymnast needs to have a gymnast’s body; a football player needs to have a football player’s body; and, of course, a Martial Artist needs to have a Martial Artist’s body… All of our Exercise Programs are designed to help you get rid of all your "silly excuses"… (I'm not strong enough, I'm not flexible enough, I'm not coordinated enough, etc.).
In short, we will help you to build a Martial Artist's body; and we can do it in a way that, we think, you will find very enjoyable!
Let me take this opportunity explain a little bit about our individual programs, and introduce you to some of the special features that your Non-Traditional Membership affords you:
· BASIC TRAINING PROGRAMS: These classes are ideal for those with “special needs”, or for those who may feel that the Bootcamp Program is just a little too vigorous… Actually, many of our Traditional Students will participate in these classes, from time to time, while they are rehabbing some injury, or recovering from some major illness, because the Basic Training Program is less strenuous and the cardio-vascular requirements are reduced. Perhaps after you have gained some confidence in the Basic Training Program, you’ll feel empowered and ready to take on the more challenging Bootcamp Program (this generally takes 3 - 5 months).
· BOOTCAMP PROGRAMS: Many people hear the term Bootcamp, and right away, they think "hard-core military training"; to us, the term simply means getting back-to-the-basics. All new students start at a Class "D" (beginner) Level, in a program that is so gentle, that is was actually designed for women in the later stages of pregnancy. But don't be fooled; this program WILL CHALLENGE YOU... It’s kind of like a good massage; if it's going to do you any good at all, it needs to be a little “uncomfortable”.
· AMERICAN KICKBOXING: Can't remember those complicated aerobic routines? No Rhythm? Our Kickboxing programs are not dance-based aerobic classes, but a full-body progressive workout system featuring true kickboxing skills... not just fitness, but "Fitness with a Product"… Real Self-Defense. These classes are ideal for the non-active athlete, the closet warrior, or just for Fun & Fitness.
· USAB BOXING PROGRAM: Our Instructor is a Registered Coach with the USAB (the US Olympic people), and has been teaching the “sweet science” of boxing since the early 80’s… So, whether you’re an aspiring Olympic athlete, or just a “recreational” boxer, this is the program for you! At many commercial boxing gyms, they don’t actually “teach” you how to box; they just show you the equipment, and cut-you-loose… But here, in our Open/Co-ed Boxing Class, you will actually learn “how” to box; we will teach you the Basics, the Footwork, the Combinations… And, included in every class, you will also be lead-through a progressive conditioning program; exercises which will supplement your boxing workouts, including: Strength Training, Cardio Conditioning, Flexibility, and Agility Training!
